LOOKING AHEAD FROM BEHIND

  Last semester I only had one course that was helpful and that course was AP Spanish. AP Spanish was helping me improve my communication skills in Spanish. Unlike my other Courses, they didn't really help in any way instead I would constantly stress over the huge load of assignments I would receive. Every course I had last year didn't really have to do anything with videography so I can't say any of them have a connection with my Big question this semester. The only thing last semester's courses did help with was gaining camera confidence since 2 of my courses required us to have our cameras on all the time but other than that last semester was not the best. 

A FUNNY THIING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO NOT GOING TO SCHOOL

 About 6 months ago I got myself an electric skateboard. I was really excited because I already had one but the one I had was a beginner board meaning its max speed was only 14mph and it was more of a go around your neighborhood board since the battery didn't last much either. So the new board I got about 6months ago is completely different this one can go up to 34mph and the battery can last around 8 miles so I can use it as transportation. Well, when I first got it I was enjoying the speed I mean it's the first time I've been on a board that can reach 34mph so I would always be going around pretty fast until one day boy o boy did I learn to not always go fast. I went out with my friend Alexis to In-n-out and on the way, I was going pretty fast most of the time, I would stay in between 8-28 mph until I learned my lesson. We were going down a street with no stop signs so I thought man I can go as fast as I want but I never been on that road so I didn't know if there were speed bumps or uneven roads so while I was going 23mph my board went over a mini speed bump and that mess me up I wobbled and got sent forwards I landed on my hands since had important items in my backpack. Once I stood up I cleaned myself off and noticed my jeans were ripped from the knee and my hands were badly scraped my palm was bleeding on my left hand. After that, I haven't gone fast in every street unless I know the street is safe and smooth.

ACCEPTING THE CALL TO ADVENTURE

I was watching videos when I received an email with a question only I can answer. I was interested right away since it was a question only I can answer so I opened up the email and read it. I understood half of it the first time but I decided to read it again and once I did I understood it completely it was actually surprising how fast I was able to answer the question. Here's the link to my response-"A CALL TO ADVENTURE".  When You get a textbook handed to you it doesn't feel good. Why? Well because when you do work from a textbook your mind goes into just do it and turn it in a mode which means you won't actually take your time to read what the text says and what the book is about since your mind is going to just be worried about finishing the work. But when you read something interesting you actually take your time to understand what you're reading and what the text is trying to tell you. So this semester I get to actually learn about what I want and not just that I also get to use all the resources  I got to my advantage like I can watch my favorite directors' movies to understand how to get a  movie look which will, later on, help me make a career and make a living of off filmmaking(AM I A HERO?). I use Google as my search engine I've been using it since I started using the internet. I have tried other search engines like Edge, Firefox, and Puffin but I just can't seem to get used to them I don't like the way they look and the way they are set up. I am still yet to find a search engine as comfortable as google. Wikipedia provided me with useful information about Joseph Campbell's call to adventure since I didn't really understand what it was. 

AM I A HERO?

 My learning in this semester qualifies as an adventure in  Joseph Campbell's terms. This Semester I got a call to an adventure I am the learner and Dr.Preston is my mentor. I am going through a transformation where I will hopefully do the same in the future.

A Call To Adventure

 When I first got the email I was confused but then I read it again and I got a better understanding of the message. Kurosawa would think it's the perfect setting. Kurosawa is a Film Director so he would've loved the setting where the 1969 GTO broke down. The Friend had a good eye because he noticed the lighting and positioning.

 I didn't really know what to write but then my mind started thinking. I think people need to start asking. what do I mean? Well like I just said I think people need to start asking for anything or about anything. If you really want something just ask for it even if you might get a "No" because you never know what can happen. I remember I wanted to start making videos but I needed more than one person to make better content because after a while you want to get more creative but it sometimes requires more than one person. I have a small group of friends I am really close with and by small, I mean small only 3 people. At first, I was too scared to ask them to make videos with me I felt like they would find me weird or I just didn't like the thought of getting "No" as an answer but I decided to just go for it and what do you know 4 months later we all enjoy making videos and creating content. So just ask even if you might get "No" as an answer.

When people talk about me it doesn't affect me. why? well because no matter what you do you can't make everyone happy. The only things that should really matter to you are what important people think about you because they are the ones that are going to help you grow and become a boss. What do I mean by important? When I say important I mean People that are going to help you reach your dreams, For example, I want to become a videographer/Film maker and in order for me to be seen, I need to make sure my work stands out so that if someone related to a company sees ut they will help me get in contact with a company or someone.

I remember when I was in 3rd grade the entire class was assigned to make the solar system, I enjoy making things so I got really excited I couldn't wait to go to the store and get all the items I needed. I went to Michaels and bought everything I needed I got home and started making the solar system I really took my time on it. I was so happy I was creating something that I forgot it was for school, I made sure everything was good and took it to school. Long story short I got 100% and got to take it home as a memory.

The Feedback

 I received good feedback earlier today. I learned that people noticed the way I type and the way I  take my time to research my information. Also, someone told me that I should post some of my work on here so I will do that soon I'm glad someone wants to see my work I love to receive feedback so I know where to improve and change. I also enjoyed giving feedback to other people as I read I noticed I could relate to some of the things they were talking about, I'm pretty sure that's why we are all in the Open-source learning program. I noticed there are people that want to help those In need which is something I'm glad to see since we need a world that will come together so that's one step closer.

This Weekends Post

I am really passionate about photography and videography, I love everything the revolves around those topics. When I'm out recording or taking photos I always feel uplifted and in a positive mood. I enjoy the feeling of holding a camera and getting amazing shots as an outcome. I love the process of editing too since I get to let my creativity be free I am able to bring what's on my mind to life. English is something that can help me in these since I can learn better communication skills that I would need when talking to a potential client. Something that really interests me past high school is working in production crews or joining a film-making career just so I can get that on-set experience because working by yourself and working with a production crew is a completely different experience. When you work with a crew you have to learn how to work fast and CAREFULLY because the equipment onset is not cheap everything on a set is usually professional equipment which means you will be handling lenses that can cost up to 13k yes 13k just for a lens I know right insane that's why you have to be careful while being on set. I think everyone gets inspired by someone or something for example I get inspired by other filmmakers like Eddie Choppo. Eddie Choppo is a filmmaker who has made videos for artists like Herencia De Patrones, Hermanos Figueroa, and Grupo triple L. I also enjoy Edgar Esteves work he is the founder of Blank Square Productions he does everything. He's worked with Famous celebrities like Geazy, Chris brown, and Da Baby. He also works with an entire crew so he has a lot of experience working with a production crew.
