Reflection For American Literature

This semester was weird but weird in a good way. This course was very different from any other class I've had. In this course I was able to express myself more I was able to be more open-minded I was just able to think freely while being graded. I also enjoyed being able to write about my own topics.

This course really made me change the way I looked at teachers. I would think all teachers were the same that they didn't really listen to students. Mr. Preston or Dr. Preston has really shown difference, He really is different compared to all the teachers I met throughout my school years. Dr. Preston actually takes his time to listen to what his students have to say and tries to understand them. I Have personally have had some great conversations with Dr. Preston.

I won't say I've done all the work in this course but I have done a good amount to be proud of. I am proud that I was able to at least have posted on my blog different times. I am also proud of a video I made for the open house assignment, I really went out of my comfort zone and sat in front of a camera and spoke to it in front of my friends. I am overall proud of myself for not giving up in this class.

As I look back to the begging of the year I wish I would have done somethings differently. I wish I would've turned in more work to make my blog look better. I also wish I would have asked more questions when I was confused. There's this thing about me that sometimes as much as I want to ask a question my mind won't let me until either it's just me and the teacher or There is no one else listening but I'm glad that as time went on or goes on I am getting rid of that habit I am being more open and less shy.

I learned a good amount of things in this course that will help me in the future. For example, I learned about alliteration, I didn't know the meaning of alliteration until we started reading stories that had alliteration. Alliteration just words that have the same sounds or begging a great example is "Peter piper picked a peck of pickled woods". I also learned to be less shy and to be more open to new ideas.

I enjoyed the stories we read in this course they were different from anything I've read or at least the way we talked about the stories. For example "Young goodman brown" this story really caught my attention with the tone it set off in story it felt a little tense like when Goodman was stopped by the police for walking, that part of the story set of a tense moment because we knew exactly what was going on. I also enjoyed Fahrenheit 464 It set off a weird mood for me in the begging. My mood was confused when I found out that the firefighters started fires instead of ending them it really caught me off guard.  I read Harry Potter in my own time well not all of it but I did get to half the book it was Harry Potter deathly hollows part 2, this story had an amazing theme that's what kept me reading.
